In a perfect world I would spend most of my year indulging my art nomadic tendencies by attending international art fairs and gypseting through life. Life might not be perfect but I strongly believe that when you shoot for the moon you will at least land in the stars.

Ever since college I have dreamed about attending Art Basel Miami. I had never been to Florida or the South before this road trip. Art Basel Miami was a gift I was going to give to myself before I realized that I was moving back to California.

When the cards were all laid out and a move home appeared, I cancelled my plane ticket and sketched out my driving route. I wasn’t going to give up Miami even though it was the farthest out-of-the-way destination one can drive when trying to make their way to California. Sometimes we have to do things just because they are right for us, despite the onslaught of unsolicited opinions.

This was a gift to myself for being brave enough to move across the country to start a business in the first place.

My affair with the art world has been a long and enchanting one. It was exhilarating to wind through the rows and rows of galleries and the greatness of the artwork. Historical pieces that rarely make it into museums hang so close you can almost touch them. It's moving. I never want to forget how important it is to explore whether it be art, ourselves, our country or the world.

Those moments remind me to never stop looking.
