Above are images from the Pittsburgh Biennial opening at the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts. There are a wide range of organizations participating in the biennial- everything from the Mattress Factory to the Downtown galleries. One characteristic of Pittsburgh that I love is its strong sense of community. It is easy to meet people within the arts here. These people are generous and crazy-talented. The community is also young and growing; in the last two years, I have seen many of the artists in this show develop and expand their work. It’s amazing to see them showing at a local institution. I’m not sure I can put into words how proud I am of these individuals and I look forward to following their work in the years to come.
