Corporate Slouch

November 13, 2014 Melissa LuVisi

The last couple weeks at my day job were hard. Emotionally, I still feel like I haven’t quite processed everything, especially my move west. It felt lonely to go in, day after day, as my workload was slowly being scaled back. Change is lonely. Traveling is lonely. Personal growth, can be lonely. Of course, all of these things are good and exciting, and most often worth it, but sometimes they just kind of drag.

Yay for the doubled up scarf!

Yay for the doubled up scarf!

And that’s how the last couple weeks at my job were. They dragged. At one point, I had to spend eight hours a day in a tiny cube with my replacement trainee; doing nothing but observing. It was nauseating to have someone follow me around and take over what once was my workspace.

When it came to getting dressed in the morning, all I cared about was comfort. I finally had to start wearing long pants to work because of the weather. So, I decided to go with a drape-y corporate look, which was inspired by this tumblr photo years ago.

I bought a cashmere Calvin Klein mens sweater last year (here's a similar one, mine was discounted and from Costco) and I can’t get enough of it.  I love wearing mens clothes. Plus, it doesn't hurt to have a few oversized mens pieces around incase any male suitors turn up. So, this is my winter Monday boho attire, because I usually don’t have the energy to give an F*  at the beginning of the week. If I wear nice jewelry and a fitted blazer that usually distracts from the oversized blanket like clothing I’m cuddling in, I mean wearing.

Here are some similar styles.
