In from Golden Gate Park

December 1, 2014 Melissa LuVisi

When I first landed in Northern California for my week visit, I was still feeling shell shocked from all the changes that were happening in my life. I expected this feeling would eventually wear off.

I planned to take that week to recoup, breath in the misty fresh air of the San Francisco Bay and hit the ground running once in New York. I didn’t have a plan and wasn’t exactly sure what to do with myself.

After meeting with a mentor in San Mateo, I headed into the city to explore. Driving in San Francisco, like any city is nerve racking, especially when the car you are driving isn’t your own.

I decided I was going to head to the Keith Haring exhibit at the De Young Museum. I had never visited the museum and this sounded like a lovely way to spend my morning. After arriving to find that the museum is closed on Mondays, I didn’t feel like battling the San Francisco traffic, I grabbed my camera and pondered around Golden Gate Park.

The park is huge and I really didn’t cover much ground before heading back.

In typical SF fashion it was chilly and foggy for most of the day, which left a blanket of gloom in all my photos.

Luckily for me, I’ve always thought fog was romantic.

What's your favorite part of SF?
